Director’s Statement: I wanted to make a story about people struggling to find their place and trying to meet the expectations of society or their loved ones. This is a story about self-discovery, at the same time reaching into the world outside one’s cocoon: the underdog, the dreamer and the misfit – all trying to make sense of their lives.
Tay Bee Pin’s films have travelled to nearly 30 film festivals. An alumnus of Berlinale Talents and the Rotterdam Lab, his projects have been selected several times by Taipei’s Golden Horse Film Project Promotion.
CHANGFENG TOWN (2019) was awarded the Asian Cinema Fund and screened at the Busan International Film Festival. He was also awarded Best Director at the Asia Web Awards in Seoul for his music video ORANG SINGAPURA.
